Organisers of the Lady Gaga show, to be held in Greater Noida on Sunday night as part of the Formula One after-party event, have said they are all set to make sure that the pop diva’s performance “is as smooth and rocking as it gets”.
The first Indian concert of the gods of rock, Metallica, had to be cancelled in Gurgaon because of “lack of adequate security arrangement and subsequent vandalism by fans”.
“You cannot compare both the occasions. More than 25,000 fans had gathered in Gurgaon, while we are expecting 1,000 visitors for Gaga’s show. We are not doing it in the open. Our venue is Jaypee’s five-star spa and resort. A special 20,000 sqft area (pop-up lounge) has been created at the resort to host the event,” said a senior official of Jaypee Sports International (JPSI).
“The Greater Noida show is for a niche audience. The ticket costs Rs 40,000. There cannot be any vandalism here. Plus, there is adequate security,” said the official.
“We have taken permission from the district administration. We are paying more than Rs 1crore as entertainment tax. There will not be any glitches,” he added.
Unlike the Gurgaon concert, obtaining the last-minute permission, if at all required for the Greater Noida show, from the Uttar Pradesh administration would not be difficult.
Actor Arjun Rampal and restaurateur AD Singh have tied up to create the pop-up lounge at the Greater Noida resort to host musical evenings.
Though Rampal could not be contacted to know what all precautions the event management company was taking to avoid a Gurgaon-like fiasco, the filmstar-cum-businessman on Saturday showed excitement in his tweet, “Kids met Lady Gaga, and are over the moon. She was amazing with them. Can’t wait for her performance.”
Lady Gaga’s concert, known for pop numbers such as ‘Poker face’ and ‘Born this way’, is one of the many musical programmes JPSI has planned during the three-day racing event.
Excitement among fans is at its zenith, with several celebrities likely to attend the after-party gig.
Actor Shah Rukh Khan tweeted that he would be attending Gaga’s show.
