A day after a 76-year-old doctor was shot at and critically injured at his Sector 26 residence, the city police are clueless about the attackers.

"It's very difficult to identify the assailants as their faces were covered. We are scanning all the CCTV cameras installed in the locality to get the registration number of their motorbike. We suspect it to be a case of personal rivalry. It could be a result of property dispute," said a senior police officer investigating the case. Police are yet to record the statement of the victim.

Meanwhile, the condition of victim Dr Bhanu Pratap Srivastava is said to be critical. He is admitted in intensive care unit (ICU) of Kailash Hospital.

On Friday evening, Srivastava was checking patients when one of the assailants, posing as a patient, entered his house-cum-clinic. He shot at his neck and fled with his accomplice, who was waiting outside on a bike.

Police said Srivastava's wife rushed to the clinic after hearing the gunshot and saw him lying in a pool of blood.
