The residents of the city will welcome the new year with a message. A group of professionals would organise a street play, paste stickers on cars and create awareness on January 1, 2012 against honking.
Ravi Kalra (46), the man behind this campaign started it four years ago. And since then there has been no looking back. Now when the entire city is busy planning for new year party, this man is busy writing the script for a play on 'No Honking".
"I have been driving for last 25 years, and believe me I have not used horn while driving," Kalra said.
There are doctors, engineers, teachers and students taking part in the campaign.
They would gather near DLF Cyber City to convey the message. They have got 5 lakh stickers printed, which will be pasted on the cars passing through the stretch and also those parked in the area.
Kalra is even planning to file public interest litigation, as the government has already announced many areas like hospitals, schools and other as no honking places.
But people are seen violating the law. He wants law to be amended.
Jayant Mishra, resident of South City I said, "Certainly we need to sensitise people on the issue. People use horn as a toy, forgetting about the harm it could do. Interestingly, when we go to foreign countries we stop using the same".
