The West Bengal government on Saturday said it did not have any information regarding Intelligence Branch inspector Partha Biswas and his friend Soumyajit Basu, abducted by suspected Maoists on October 22 from Purulia district.

"The government is yet to receive any information on the IB inspector and his teacher friend," Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh said in Kolkata on Saturday.

Home Secretary GD Gautama had said on Friday that the two were possibly alive with both being taken to Jharkhand.

Maoist leaders Kisenji and Bikram have, however, denied any involvement of naxals in the incident.
