Rejecting reports of a raid at Puducherry chief minister N Rangasamy’s residence at nearby Thelarshpet, the Election Department said on Friday it was only a routine check of vehicles.

“This type of checking is done on a routine basis and it cannot be dubbed as a raid,” a senior officer of the Elections Department, who did not wish to be named, told PTI.

Rangasamy was away campaigning for the May 16 assembly polls when an election flying squad carried a search of vehicles parked inside his residence premises.
