A Jodhpur court on Tuesday once again denied bail to self styled godman Asaram for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in his Manai ashram near Jodhpur on August 15.
The Jodhpur district court as well as a Rajasthan high court bench had already denied bail to Asaram in September. Asaram had filed the second bail application before the court on November 16 last.
"Since there is no change in circumstances after this court rejected the bail plea of Asaram in September, he cannot be released on bail," district and session judge (Jodhpur district) Manoj Kumar Vyas observed while pronouncing his verdict on the bail application.
The court has started day-to-day hearing in the case.
The court has kept its decision reserved on a Jodhpur Police plea seeking electronic hearing of the case through video conferencing. It may pronounce its decision on this plea on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Asaram's Chhindwara gurukul caretaker Sharad Chandra and personal cook Prakash have also moved bail applications on Tuesday. The court is likely to hear their pleas on Wednesday.
Counsels for Asaram's close aide Shiva and hostel warden Shilpi argued that allegations leveled by the Jodhpur police against his clients are baseless.
"Shilpi as warden advised the victim to visit a doctor for curing of her illness, but police has framed her falsely in the case," senior advocate Mahesh Boda said.
Asaram seeks Ayurveda treatment
Asaram filed an application before the district court on Tuesday seeking services of a lady Ayurveda physician to cure his ailment called 'trinaadi shul'.
Asaram who had orally urged the court on Monday to allow him Ayurveda treatment, submitted a written application on Tuesday. The court will hear his plea on Wednesday.
