The Uttarakhand government on Monday said there was no shortage of LPG in the state and adequate steps had been taken to ensure timely supply of gas cylinders to consumers.
Gas agencies had been directed to ensure delivery of the cylinder within a week's time of its booking, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Diwakar Bhatt told reporters in Dehra Dun.
The government had also decided to launch a door-to-door campaign to check whether consumers were sticking to the one- kitchen-one-connection norm, he said.
"This will help us to ascertain the number of authorised gas connections in the state," Bhatt said after holding a meeting with officials of oil companies.
Unauthorised connections were responsible for artificial scarcity of LPG in the state, the Minister said.
