There was no let up in the indefinite cease work stir by house surgeons in the state, even as the agitation entered third day on Tuesday.
While the striking doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital here observed 'black day' and gheraoed the hospital superintendent for over two hours, health services have begun to suffer spreading panic among patients and attendants.
For the first time today, the hospital authorities admitted that the condition of the patients was worsening as the house surgeons have boycotted duties for over 72 hours.
At least 150 house surgeons are on strike since Sunday demanding increase in their stipend. The striking doctors are demanding a hike in their monthly stipend from the present Rs 5000 to Rs 16,000.
Meanwhile, the state health secretary is likely to hold a discussion with the striking doctors shortly and it is expected that an amicable solution would emerge from the talks.
