Residents of Sector 56 are having a tough time due to absence of streetlights in the area. With a number of open potholes, the situation has become worse. Driving in the evening is like inviting accidents.

Residents are running from pillar to post to get things in order, but in vain.

Talking about it, SK Sanga, president of residents’ welfare association, Sector 56 said, “Lack of streetlights is the main problem in the area. Though residents are facing the problem of water scarcity, and poor power supply, inadequate streetlights is giving sleepless nights to them.”

He added, “We have approached the administration many times to mend the roads and install streetlight, but to no effect.”

Expressing similar views, YK Srivastava, senior vice-president of Sector 56 residents’ welfare association (RWA) said, “Things need to be improved. We live in the heart of the city. If things do not improve here, what facilities the administration would provide to residents living on the outskirts of the city.”

“Moreover, nobody exceeds the speed limit of his vehicle from 20 kmph, still you don’t know what will happen next due to damaged roads and no streetlights.”
According to information, the number of accidents is increasing with each passing day and streetlights could indeed help in curbing the problem.
Officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), who are responsible for maintenance of streetlights in the sector, were not available for comment.
