In view of the continued rainfall, triggering of landslides and shooting stones at various places on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the authorities on Thursday decided not to allow traffic on the route on Friday.

"In the wake of landslides and shooting stones, especially between the Ramsoo-Ramban and Ramban-Batote road stretches and caving-in of the retention wall at Chanderkote, no movement of vehicles from Jammu or Kashmir Valley will be allowed on September 5," said an official communique.

The general public and transporters are advised to contact traffic control rooms at the TCU Ramban (9419993745), TCU Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732) and TCU Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396) to get the status of the road to avoid any inconvenience.

The highway was closed on Wednesday following torrential rains, triggering landslides and shooting stones.
