In 2006, the authority floated a scheme of 2,150 flats in sectors 99, 100 and 135. There were four types of flats -- 400 for people belonging to economically weaker section (EWS) and 1,050, 500 and 200 for low-income group (LIG), medium-income group (MIG) and high-income group (HIG) applicants respectively.

One EWS allottee, Ombeer Singh, told Hindustan Times on Tuesday, “I filed a complaint at the consumer forum on Monday. I had paid the registration money (R85,000 and then the balance amount (Rs 6.99 lakh). Possession was to be given latest by March, 16, 2010. Till date I have not received possession in spite of repeated reminders to the authority.”

Another allottee, P Chandra Shekharamn, said, “I was allotted an LIG flat and I paid R1.40 lakh as registration money and then the balance amount of Rs 11.99 lakh. I have not yet got possession of the flat.”

“In January this year the authority held a draw of lots for MIG and HIG flats only. As many as 400 EWS and 1,050 LIG allottees are running from pillar to post to get possession of their flats but are unable to get a satisfactory reply from authority officials as to when they will get the flats for which they paid the money five years ago,” said Shekharamn.

Some other allottees, who have been waiting for LIG flats since 2007, are likely to file their complaints in the next two days.

“I filed a complaint at the consumer forum on Monday. Six other allottees -- Anuj Gupta, Upendra Nath Singh, Ashish Kumar, Vipin Bhardwaj, Deepakshi Khatri, Rohit Sridhar – are part of my complaint but the consumer forum wants individual applications. Now they will be filing complaints in the next two days. More will follow them,” he said.

The project

Covered area of EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG flats was 40 sqm, 72 sqm, 112 sqm and 160 sqm respectively. Tentative cost for EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG flats was Rs 7.84 lakh, Rs 13.31 lakh, Rs 21.65 lakh and Rs 38.81 lakh respectively. A draw of lots was held between January 4-7 in 2007. The successful applicants were given allotment letters. Possession was to be given in three years.
