The family members of a 17-year-old girl, who was gang raped in a moving car by five men on February 24, have alleged that they are being threatened by some people to withdraw the case filed against the accused. The family has also sought protection.

The threats have come after the victim’s family lodged another FIR against four men at Sector 24 police station on March 26. The new FIR has been registered against Saurabh Chauhan, Sachin Yadav, Rohit and an unidentified person. The city police have not made any fresh arrests. The victim, a student of class 10, alleged that she was raped by one of the accused in May last year also. The new FIR has been registered in the last year’s case.

According to the victim’s family members, everyday a group of people barged into their house and threaten them to withdraw the new case.

“Our family is under immense pressure. It took us one month to get the new FIR registered. Now relatives of the accused are pressurising us to withdraw the case,” said the girl’s father.

The girl’s family has also asked for the protection. “I have filed an application in the court on Wednesday, seeking speedy trial and police protection,” he added. The police had arrested Himanshu Sharma, Rahul Arya, Saurabh Chauhan, Sunil and Neeraj in the February 24 case.
