In sync with Noida’s character of being a high-tech city, the authority is looking beyond “going by the book”. It has taken to Facebook, realising the city’s profile and its own staff’s inclination towards the social network site.

The problem, however, is that the page is not yet interactive. No officials have yet responded to comments, suggestions and complaints.

Within one month of its creation, Noida authority’s facebook page has 73 members.

The authority has also started facebook discussion boards to let people debate a particular issue.

Noida chief executive officer (CEO) Rama Raman said, “Facebook can be a good tool when it comes to receiving complaints and suggestion and ensuring quick redress.”

However, people joining the page are mostly critical.

In response to the CEO’s new year wishes, Piyush Mohan says, “The new year will be prosperous for us only when the authority executes pending projects and thinks of our welfare.”

Referring to pictures of high-rise building and swanky offices put up by the authority on the page, Abhilash Garg says,

“The beauty of the city remains limited to select places. Hope we see more such examples.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Piyush Mohan says, “Uploading such pictures is all right. But the ground reality is totally different.”
