Nokia's interest in buying companies has increased, its new chief executive said on Friday, adding that the world's largest cellphone maker aimed to strengthen its multimedia and enterprise solutions units.
"I think that in the future Nokia will be slightly more active in acquisitions and also partnerships," Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, who took over as CEO on June 1 from Jorma Ollila, told Finnish national broadcaster YLE.
"In Enterprise Solutions and Multimedia there will be targets of interest," he said, referring to the group's divisions that targets products at corporate clients and to the unit which makes music and camera phones.
A 26-year veteran at Nokia, Kallasvuo held the role of chief financial officer for about 10 years and ran Mobile Phones, Nokia's biggest unit by volumes and profits, in 2004-2005.
