Unlike JD-U, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has refused to put any blame on the BJP for the NDA's defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, saying it has no complaint against it.
"No, no, we have nothing against BJP. We have no complaints," SAD supremo and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal told PTI when asked whether BJP was responsible for NDA's defeat in various states including Punjab.
He said though the NDA could not become victorious, the BJP had handled the election campaign efficiently and it should not be blamed in any way.
Asked about another NDA constituent JD-U's statement that BJP being the biggest partner in the coalition should be blamed 'more' but not totally, he said, "I have nothing to say on that".
Badal said the Akali Dal's relations with the BJP were 'old and cordial' and will continue in the future. Akali Dal-BJP is running a coalition government in Punjab.
JD-U president Sharad Yadav had said on Sunday that "BJP is the biggest party in the alliance hence definitely they are to be blamed more (for the defeat) but they alone cannot be blamed totally."
He said some internal fights in the alliance did cause losses to NDA and JD-U too suffered losses.
Yadav also said there are "some differences" between the NDA, forged during the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the present alliance.
