The privilege notice against Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi has been referred to the Privileges committee by the Assembly Speaker Ishwar Das Rohani.
Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi had complained Rohani that the minister was violating the rules and regulations by questioning the proceedings of House in public. Heated exchanges were witnessed between the Speaker and the minister during the winter session of Assembly over Dental and Medical Admission Test - DMAT (private medical/dental admission test) issue.
Speaker Rohani told Hindustan Times, “Since I am one of the parties concerned in the matter, I have forwarded the notice to the Privileges Committee”.
The development has assumed significance because of the fact that the recommendations of the committee would be discussed in the House. Rohani and Vishnoi Both belong to Jabalpur and don’t see eye to eye on many issues.
Vishnoi had sought clarification from Rohani over his statement in the Assembly regarding alleged irregularities in the Dental and Medical Admission Test (DMAT).
Earlier, the Speaker had directed the Health Minister to take necessary steps when the issue was raised in the House. Vishnoi had urged the Speaker to provide proof of irregularities in the admissions and also sent a letter in this regard.
