Notice to Cong corporator

india Updated: Jul 06, 2006 15:26 IST

THE DIVISIONAL Commissioner today issued a show-cause notice to the Congress corporator Sadia Khan, whose husband had allegedly misbehaved with a clerk posted at Bhopal Municipal Corporation’s zonal office of Zone 5. The Commissioner asked the corporator to submit reply within 15-days or face disqualification.

According to official information, Commissioner of Bhopal Hoshangabad division, K K Singh, issued notice to the corporator under the provisions of section 19 (1) (A) of the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act. This section deals with the disqualification of the corporators.

It was stated that Haidaryar Khan, husband of corporator from ward 23 and zonal chairman of Zone 5 Sadia Khan, called the BMC clerk Abdul Wahab and pressurised him for doing some work against the rules. When the clerk refused, Haidaryar Khan misbehaved with him, the notice stated.

The notice said that according to the rules, Sadia Khan’s act could be considered tacit participation in this incident, and thus, thus misuse of the post. The Commissioner took this action on the basis of report submitted by the BMC Commissioner.

About a year back, the divisional Commissioner had issued notices to four Congress corporators for their alleged misbehaviour with then BMC commissioner Manish Singh.

Those who got the notices at that time include Salim Ahmed, Shahid Ali, Munawwar Ali and Gautam More. These corporators allegedly misbehaved with the BMC commissioner when they went to submit a memorandum to him.

About six months back, the BMC Commissioner had also recommended action against a BJP corporator Vandana Parihar. During the removal of encroachment at Nehru Nagar, Parihar’s husband had allegedly misbehaved with then BMC commissioner Manish Singh.
