A fresh notice has been issued to Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan asking her to file a reply by April 15 on the allegation by a Congress leader that she had concealed facts about the property owned by her husband Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki.
Returning Officer for Rajya Sabha polls, R P Pandey while issuing the notice on Friday, said if Bachchan failed to file her reply by April 15, it would be presumed that she had nothing to say on the issue and the matter would be disposed of on the basis of available records, according to official sources in Lucknow.
The petition against Bachchan was filed with the Election Commission by Congress leader Amir Haider the previous year alleging that the Rajya Sabha MP had concealed facts about two plots in the name of her husband in Barabanki, the sources said.
Jaya was earlier disqualified by the EC in March 2006 for holding office of profit as chairperson of UP Film Division.
She was re-elected to the Upper House by-election in June 2006.
