Notices to Govt, TV firms over showing judiciary in poor light

Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday issued notices to Sab TV, Idea Pictures and Information and Broadcasting Ministry for showing judiciary in a poor light in a serial, Yah Chanda Kanoon Hai.

The notices were issued by the division bench of Justice R S Garg and Justice P K Jaiswal on a petition filed by an advocate Dipanshu Sahu.

The petitioner alleged that the serial is showing the judiciary in a poor and obscene manner.

The notice asked them that why the Contempt of Court proceedings should not be initiated against them.

It also asked the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to specify what provisions it has with it to prevent telecast of such a serial.

The court directed them to file their replies to the notice within four weeks.
