After the success of its campaign in the US, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals has announced the 'desi' version of cutest vegetarian alive contest, where one can vote for the 'popular' vegetarian, with 60 celebrities from Bollywood and Hollywood to choose from.
On the lines of its US affiliate, PETA 2 -which last year crowned rock singer Benji Madden and Hollywood actor Natalie Portman as the king and queen of hot vegetarians contest, PETA's Indian division is all set to propagate vegetarianism, the celebrity way.
From Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor to Ocean's Eleven actor Casey Affleck, celebrities are proud to go green, PETA said in a press release. "I went vegetarian recently as a mater of conscience and now feel much better, a high in my singing " Sufi rock singer Shibani Kashyap was quoted as saying.
Actor R Madhavan said, "Its simple, I love animals so much that I can't eat them." Music bands including Pink, Bombay Rockers, Prodigy and vocalists Kailash Kher, Shania Twain, Brayan Adam and DJ Swami regularly voice their concern for wildlife through their songs.
Scientist point out that vegetarians have stronger immune systems and on average live six to 10 years longer than their meat-eating counterparts. Shahid Kapur, Pamela Anderson ,Stella Mc Cartney, Luke Kennedy, Alicia Silverstone,Chelsea Clinton, Mallika Sherawat are some of the celebrities participating in the campaign.
