THE CHHATRAPATI Sahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) not only failed to get suitable teachers to teach Environmental Studies but also could not get anyone to evaluate answer scripts of the newly introduced subject.

In such a state, examinees fear that their answer papers may not be properly evaluated due to the lack of subject experts.

University sources said BCom results could not be declared as answer scripts of Environmental Studies were yet to be evaluated. Student leaders and members of the Kanpur University Association (KUTA) have urged the vice-chancellor to arrange competent evaluators for the paper.

However, it is ridiculous that the university could neither fix the course for the paper nor other norms relating to the subject. At some colleges students were asked to submit projects before the examination on environment while at others no such instructions were given.

Private candidates on the other hand have no knowledge about project work. They simply took the examination. Neither the teachers asked them about the project nor did they make any query about it.

Besides, even after two years of introducing the subject the university or the colleges could not arrange teachers for the subject. Students relied on question-answer books to prepare for the exam.

Moreover, question papers for private and regular candidates differed. While regular students had to answer general knowledge-based questions, private candidates were given questions based on science.
