Very soon, you won’t have to travel all the way to Chandigarh for RTI hearings at the State Information Commission (SIC). You will be able to attend the same sitting at the district headquarters — through video conferencing.

The department of personnel and training (DoPT), recently released Rs. 968,540 for setting up an information technology paraphernalia at Haryana SIC office to enable RTI hearings over video conferencing from district headquarters.

Every district office is equipped with video conferencing facility at the deputy commissioner’s office which can be used for RTI hearings. The amount has been sanctioned under the centrally-sponsored scheme on ‘Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of RTI Act, 2005’. The move will benefit RTI applicants all across the state.
