Congress today ridiculed Nagaland Home minister Imkong Imchens claim that the state was the "most peaceful" in the region despite incidents of extortion, kidnapping and killings continuing.

Reacting to Imchen's recent statement, NPCC in a rebuttal wondered how he could claim that the situation in the state was under control and Nagaland was the most peaceful when unlawful activities continued on a daily basis.

The Opposition party also took strong exception to the minister having described the incidents of extortion, robbery and kidnapping in commercial town of Dimapur as "normal crimes".

It pointed out that the assertion of Home minister was nothing short of legalising crime and reminded the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government that hundreds of businessmen had already left Dimapur due to extortion and abduction for ransom.
