NSG division to be set up in Chennai
The Centre has decided to set up a division of the National Security Guards (NSG) in Chennai, following the November 26 terror attacks, PM Manmohan Singh informed Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
The Centre has decided to set up a division of the National Security Guards (NSG) in Chennai, following the November 26 terror attacks, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh informed Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Wednesday.
An official press release here said Singh wrote to Karunanidhi, informing him of the Union government’s decision to establish a division of the commando force in Chennai.
Karunanidhi had written letters to the Prime Minister and union home minister, requesting that a division of the NSG be stationed in Chennai, which had all required facilities.
Following the November 26 attack in Mumbai, the Centre had decided to station divisions of the elite combat force in important cities in the country, to facilitate their quick movement to a nearby city in case of a possible terror attack.
