The number of applicants who have applied to the Delhi University (DU) this year, in the physically challenged and SC/ST categories, has risen in the last few years.
DU received 18,894 applications this year as compared to 15,406 applications in 2009, 12,126 in 2008 and 11,826 in 2007. “The awareness about the availability of seats and the facilities available for the reserved category is the reason why there has been a rise in the number of applicants in the past few years. We are still expecting more students in the physically-challenged section to apply this year,” said Seema Parihar, deputy dean, Students’ Welfare, Delhi University.
The number of physically-challenged students who have applied to DU this year is 464 till now as compared to 397 last year.
