Haryana would soon have its 'State Nutrition Policy for Women and Children.'
A separate nutrition cell would also be set up to improve the health and nutrition status of vulnerable sections of society, including children, adolescent girls and women.
This was informed at the first meeting of Haryana state executive committee of the State Nutrition Council held under the chairmanship of chief secretary PK Chaudhery in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
The meeting informed that the policy's mission statement would be "Healthy Haryana through Eradication of Malnutrition".
The chief secretary directed the departments concerned to send their detailed action plan to the women and child development department within a fortnight.
"The action plan of each department should be target-oriented. Adequate resources, manpower and finances should also be incorporated in the plan for its successful implementation," he added.
A separate nutrition cell would also be set up in the women and child development department. The cell would monitor activities being carried out by different departments.
