Last week, US ambassador to India, Timothy Roemer and his wife Sally Roemer were the special guests at the Bukhara restaurant in ITC Maurya.

On a sunny winter afternoon last week, US ambassador to India, Timothy Roemer and his wife Sally Roemer were the special guests at the Bukhara restaurant in ITC Maurya.

Reason: They became the first guests to sample the much talked about Obama platter, put together by the restaurant’s master chefs during US President Obama’s state visit to India. After the special tasting session, the platter is now open for guests to enjoy. The ambassador and his wife enjoyed the platter, comprising an array of non-vegetarian kebabs and veg tikkas.

The fare included Tandoori Jhinga, Macchi Tikka, Reshmi Kabab and Sikandari Raan. The vegetarian options include Tandoori Aloo, Tandoori Salad, the ever popular Dal Bukhara and Raita. The platter has dessert options of Phirni, Gulab Jamun, Kulfi and Rasmalai. The ambassador, who enjoyed the relaxed session, said, “Besides kebabs, the naan amal (an almond and coriander-topped bread served as an accompaniment) was extremely delicious.’’

Ranvir Bhandari, GM and VP North, ITC Maurya , said, “After the Clinton and Chelsea platter, we have upheld the grand tradition with the Obama platter. It was great that President Obama signed the menu.”
