It was an evening cherished by two of the leading teenage sports sensation tennis star Ankita Bhambri and women grandmaster Tania Sachdev, as they launched India’s first ever fiction series for young adults Adventures of Nikki: Endless Journey, the first book of a series of six.
These are the stories of the girl who doesn’t know what fear is and whose ingenuity and pluck keeps her clear of seemingly difficult and dangerous situations.
“When the script was first given to me and when I started reading it, I simply couldn’t keep the script away,” said Shobit Arya, publisher of Wisdom Tree. “The reading habits of Indian are fast changing and our Garfield series, which we had launched two years ago, proves that the tastes of young minds are changing fast,” he added.
Teen tennis star Ankita who is currently placed 337 in the world ranking said, “The adventures of Nikki brought back my childhood days when I used to read Enid Blyton and I have been relishing each and every bit of the book.To me books act as a great stress buster and this is no different,” she added.
On the other hand chess prodigy Tania said, “Being an English literature student, I’m quite fond of good and racy novels and this book promises just that,” she said. Tania, unlike Ankita, at the moment is busy preparing for her Graduation exam that is the top priorities right now.
Author of the book GS Dutt was visibly quite excited at the launch. “I am not a celebrity or famed author. I’m just a simple man, who is trying to showcase my works.” “I think the launch of Adventures of Nikki heralds a new chapter in the genre of the adventure fiction writing for adults,” he added.
