Denizens may be having a feeling of disenchantment towards civic body polls due to its poor performance but those contesting the polls appear upbeat. Probably that is why there are many who pursue corporatorship as family tradition.

Such corporators whose mothers , wives or any other family member had stepped into their shoes may have invited criticism from several quarters for this 'vanshvaad' but one cannot deny the fact that such candidates had the mandate of the people. Nizamuddin, from Baidan Tola, had been corporator from the same place once in 1995. His wife won in the year 2000 from the same seat.

This time she is contesting again.

Shailendra Dwivedi from Bai-Ka-Bagh represented the area from 1995-2000. His wife Abha Dwivedi is contesting from the same place this time.

Anees Ahmad from Darashah Ajmal has represented the area thrice. This time he has sent his wife to the electorate.

Chandra Bhan Singh alias Guddu Chauhan is contesting from Civil Lines this time. His cousin Amit Singh was the corporator from this seat till now. Chandra Bhan's mother Chandra Kanta Chauhan has also earlier represented the same area.

Aquilur Rehman became corporator in 1995 from Kydganj. In 2000 his wife Anjuman Aquil won from the same seat after it was reserved for women. This time her husband is again contesting from the same place.

Tasleemuddin has already represented the station ward thrice from 1989 to 2000. This time he has handed over the baton to his wife. Krishna Deo alias Kattu had been corporator from Mundera from 1989 to 2000. His wife is in the fray this time. Vijay Vaish from Sahrarabagh became corporator twice from the area and is contesting for the third time. Earlier his father Ramchandra Vaish, a popular business community leader, had represented the area.

Ratan Dixit had represented Mumfordganj twice during 1989-1995 and 2000-2006. During 1995-2000 his mother Rama Dixit had represented the same place. This time she is again contesting from Muirabad after Mumfordganj was declared a reserved seat.
