Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday castigated People's Democratic Party (PDP) for its "deceitful politics and opportunist tactics" to mislead people for grabbing power in the state.
He said false propaganda against the National Conference and false promises to people have become handiwork of the PDP and its leadership, which is amply evident by the vast difference between their words and deeds.
Addressing election rallies in remote areas of Banihal and Ramban constituencies, Omar said people are well aware of the mis-governance, nepotism and corruption, which the state witnessed during the PDP regime.
Omar also hit out at the BJP for its divisive politics and said 'Mission 44+' of the BJP is nothing but a hoax and its balloon will burst after witnessing the faith people have in NC and its policy programmes for equitable development of all the three regions of the state and safeguarding the interests of the people.
Omar said while PDP made all its efforts to malign NC by circulating untrue, concocted and false propaganda against the latter, PDP also attempted to utilise human issues to get political mileage for power game.
"So much so that PDP without bothering for the suffering of lakhs of flood-affected people in Kashmir and parts of Jammu left no stone unturned to ensure that elections are held as early as possible in the state," he said, adding that this attitude of PDP unveils its mentality and thirst for power. He said people will teach them a befitting lesson for this opportunism and greed.
Omar asked the people to be united and foil all attempts aimed at creating hatred and wedging them apart on various considerations. He said certain forces are out to ignite tension on various counts and flare-up sentiments of people for vote bank politics and urged them to reject this kind of political trait vehemently.
He said the NC is the only political party with a categorical political and economic agenda for Jammu and Kashmir. Omar said that NC is the voice of Jammu and Kashmir and stands firm on its agenda for peaceful and progressive J&K.
The chief minister mentioned the steps his government took to enhance economic activities in the far-flung areas by launching power, road construction and other projects.
He said creation of new administrative units by his government is aimed at bringing administration to the doorsteps of people and help mitigate their difficulties on socio-economic and development fronts.
