On the first anniversary of his Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) on Wednesday, its chief K Chiranjeevi dwelt on the outfit's poor showing in Lok Sabha elections and vowed to rectify mistakes and surge ahead in future.
"People are my strength. Nothing else matters for me as long as I enjoy people's support and I re-dedicate myself to their service," he said.
The actor-turned-politician was addressing a small gathering of party leaders and workers here after unfurling the PRP's flag on its first anniversary. Chiranjeevi, whose party drew a blank in Lok Sabha polls, asserted that social justice would continue to be his main agenda.
"I floated Praja Rajyam exactly a year ago on the request of the people who longed for a change in the current political system. On the first anniversary of the party, I am re-dedicating my self to the task of ushering in the change as well as social justice," Chiranjeevi said.
The drubbing received by the PRP in the general elections was due to a variety of factors, including organisational lapses, he admitted.
Lakhs of people attended my road shows across Andhra Pradesh ahead of the elections but too many things have gone wrong in our electoral march. Now, we will rectify all those mistakes and surge ahead in future, the PRP chief said.
