One person was killed, while over 40 people suffered injuries, when two passenger buses collided head on at Bairasia Road on Thursday. Among the injured, eight passengers are critical. The incident occurred at Lambakheda village under Nishatpura police station.
According to police, the incident occurred when a passenger bus, owned by Siddique Bus Service, coming from Bairasia at high speed hit another passenger bus, owned by Rajeshwari Bus Service.
The intensity of the collision was such that one of the buses overturned. On getting information, the police rushed to the spot and the injured were rushed to hospitals with the help of local residents.
The injured have been admitted to four hospitals including Hamidia Hospital and three private hospitals of Bhopal.
The conductor of the bus Narendra Bhargava, a resident of Dillodh village, suffered serious injuries and died on the spot, said the police.
According to town inspector (TI) of Nishatpura police station, Dinesh Joshi, about 40 passengers of both the buses sustained injuries and seven to eight of them were critical. "We have registered a case and started investigation," he further said.
