One killed, five hurt in grenade blast in J&K

Police suspect that Dar was carrying the grenade, which exploded before he would throw it, reports Rashid Ahmad.

A grenade blast left one person dead and five others injured in southern Anantnag town on Sunday.
 
The dead person has been identified as Tawqeer Ahmad Dar. Police suspect that Dar was carrying the grenade, which exploded before he would throw it. The blast took place at court road in Srinagar. 
 
"One person is dead and five others have got injured," said Abdul Rasheed Dar, additional deputy commissioner of Anantnag adding "the slain person is most likely the grenade thrower".  
 
In a separate incident, unknown terrorists shot dead Zahoor Ahmad Hafeez, a functionary of National Panther’s Party at Khanyar in capital. Police said that assailants fired at Zahoor from close range with a pistol.

He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to injuries on the way. Zahoor was also the block president of National Panthers' Party.
