The police have arrested a jailed person in connection with Bengaluru’s April 17 blast, taking the number of those nabbed to four.
The accused has been identified as Saddam Hussain, 25, a native of Coimbatore district.
The police said he had been in Salem jail for many years on another charge.
An investigating officer said one of the accused, Kitchen Bhuhari, told the police Saddam had been a conspirator in the case.
He also said Saddam, though in prison, had contacted Bhuhari and others through the cell phone.
He was taken into custody from Salem prison through a warrant by a Bangalore court.
He was produced before the additional chief magistrate’s court and sent to police custody till May 8.
Recently the Bangalore police, with the help of the Tamil Nadu police and the National Investigation Authority, arrested three persons including Bhuhari.
