The police, on Wednesday, arrested one more person in the Rs 7.5 lakh self-styled robbery, which took place at an Axis Bank ATM located at Railway Road on Sunday.
According to the police, the arrested person is an employee of the ATM management agency and had allegedly hatched a conspiracy with the security guard deputed at the ATM booth.
“He knew the password and had access to the secret key. He conspired with somebody to commit the crime,” said the police, adding that he had passed on this information to the ATM security guard.
On Sunday, some miscreants stole Rs 7.5 lakh by unlocking the ATM with the password in the presence of security guards, said the police.
“The act shows apparent involvement of the security guard concerned. We have found enough evidence against the guard, who is under custody,” the police added.
The police had arrested the security guard on Monday and following his interrogation, the police got clues about ATM custodian Dhanraj Pal. He was subsequently nabbed on Wednesday.
Though the police recovered the money from the security guard, they are searching for his other accomplices.
The police have been investigating the matter with the help of CCTV footage, which shows a man entering the ATM wearing a helmet.
“He might be ATM custodian Dhanraj Pal, but we are yet to confirm it,” said DCP west Dr Abhay Singh.
