One rescued from dacoits clutches

POLICE HAVE rescued one Badam Singh Parihar of Gumanpura from the clutches of the Anoop Gurjar dacoit gang in Datia district.

According to DIG (Chambal) DC Sagar, the man was rescued after an encounter with the gang on the banks of river Sindh early on Sunday.

However, the gang fled under cover of darkness. Badam Singh was tied in chains, when the police rescued him, he said. The gang leader, Anoop Gurjar carries Rs 15,000 on his head and had kidnapped  three persons, including Badam Singh. The other two had escaped from captivity earlier.

The DIG said some dacoit appear to have suffered serious injuries during the encounter. Meanwhile, in another incident Morena police have seized silver worth Rs 18 lakh, being smuggled from Gujarat in a jeep.

The seizure was made during a check at Morena barrier on Sunday. One person has been arrested in this connection.
