GAIL suffered their second setback in a row as they went down to ONGC 'B' 8-1 in their third match of the 26th PSPB hockey tournament at the BHA Stadium here on Wednesday.
ONGC 'B', who yesterday went down to Indian Oil Corporation, were determined to put on a good show and played brilliantly by scoring five goals (1st, 10th, 16th, 23rd and 26th minute) in the first half.
Mohammed Nisar opened the account for ONGC 'B' in the first minute, which was followed by some fine stickwork and dribbling by the forwards who scored almost at will.
SZ Nadeem added two goals in the 39th and 50th minutes and was well supported by SVH Mishra and Nisar, who also scored twice.
In the second match for the day, BPCL and ONGC 'A' were engaged in a closely fought encounter which saw BPCL emerge 3-2 victors.
Tushar Khandekar was instrumental in the win as he scored two important goals in the 13th and 23rd minutes of the match.
ONGC 'A' proved to be a tough side to beat and scored the equalisers off the stick of Rajdeep Singh (19th min) and Jagmant Singh (30th min).
However, the winning goal came from Gurpreet Singh through a penalty corner in the finishing moments.
