With less than three months left before the kick-off of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Namibia has to date only 22 athletes eligible for the event.
The Commonwealth Games will take place from 3 to 14 October this year, but many local sporting disciplines are yet to submit the names of their athletes for participation in the event.
Documents from the office of the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) revealed yesterday that so far, only nine female and 13 male athletes are eligible for the Games.
Some of the disciplines that are still to submit the names of their athletes include boxing, gymnastics, cycling, wrestling and shooting.
Organisers of the Commonwealth Games have given the various sports bodies August 31 as the last date to submit the names of their respective athletes.
In the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia, Namibia had 54 competitors in eight different sports codes.
