Former chief minister Oommen Chandy would lead the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in April 13 assembly elections, said union civil aviation minister Vayalar Ravi on Friday while putting to rest rumours about his candidature for Kerala CM.
“My hands are full. I am not interested in coming back to the state. Chandy is competent enough to lead the Congress,” he said in Kochi. Speculation was rife that he would move to the state if the Congress-led coalition came to power. He had expressed this desire more than once.
“Once I was keen, but not now,” he said. He got the plum civil aviation portfolio in the recent reshuffle at the Centre. He said his daughter might contest from Kottayam.
