The Opposition attack on Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Thursday triggered an uproar in the House, forcing the Chair to adjourn it till 11.30 am.
As soon as the House met, Left members were on their feet attacking the BJP and its allies for 'casting aspersions' on the Speaker.
They were objecting to NDA's attack on the Speaker and a letter written by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Chatterjee in which he had said that the Speaker was unable to win as much confidence of the opposition as of ruling benches.
The NDA members retaliated, triggering pandemonium in which nothing could be heard.
After nearly five minutes of uproar, Chatterjee adjourned the House till 11.30 am.
