Goa's Opposition benches on Thursday took on Chief Minister Digamber Kamat for projecting Goa as an unsafe destination post-evening for the tourists.
Kamat in an earlier discussion had said that tourists holidaying in the state should adhere to certain code of conduct while venturing out in the night.
"Government should provide security to tourists 24 hours and for that you need to take action against the accused like the one involved in raping a Russian girl," Leader of Opposition, Manohar Parrikar, said during the ongoing winter session of State Legislative Assembly.
The opposition benches alleged that the police have goofed up in the Russian girl rape case allowing the accused to go scot-free.
"Even now police know where he is and he must have been told to remain in hiding till public memory fades," Parrikar, who is also former chief minister, alleged.
Opposition benches had special discussion on various incidents concerning law and order situation in the state including rape on Russian girl, lewd MMS, IGP's son misusing the car and terrorist Headley's visit to the state.
The leader of Opposition said that when the girl went to Colva police station, she was asked to water down the complaint.
"The case investigation gained momentum only after it was handed over to Crime Branch," he said.
