Orissa top cop BB Mohanti reported for duty on Wenesday in the home department after the revocation of his 20-month suspension.

The suspension order was revoked by the state government late last night just days before the expiry of the term of the BJD government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik signed on the state's senior-most IPS officer's file, official sources said.

Mohanti had been put under suspension from government service after a Rajasthan court issued non-bailable warrant against his name in mid 2007, on charge of helping his 24 year-old rape convict son Bitihotra to jump parole from a jail in that state. He was also jailed for some days before being suspended from service in August, 2007.

"I will like to forget my only son who landed me in jail and caused embarrassment," Mohanti said adding he has to do it in order to live in peace for the rest of his life.

Asked, Mohanti said he had no information regarding Bitihotra. "Even he (Biti) did not contact us when I was sent to jail."

Bitihotra was convicted of raping a German woman in 2006 and has been absconding after being released on parole from a jail in Rajasthan in November 2006. The Rajasthan police failed to trace him and he was punished with 7 years' imprisonment in Rajasthan.
