india Updated: Nov 06, 2006 13:26 IST

IF THE data available with the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is any indication, MLAs from other parts of the State are more interested in the issues of Bhopal than the local representatives. Only about half of the questions related to the BMC are asked by local MLAs of Bhopal in the ongoing session of the State Assembly.

According to information, local MLAs Arif Aqueel, Umashankar Gupta and Bhaktapal Singh asked 20 questions out of 42 submitted to the BMC for sending a reply. Aqueel asked the highest number of 13 questions and  Gupta submitted five questions related to the BMC. Besides, Bhaktapal Singh asked two questions related to the BMC.

Besides other issues, Aqueel also asked how many Mayor-in-Council (MiC) meetings were attended by the BMC commissioner. He asked about the questions related to the vehicles hired by the BMC administration.

Gupta asked a question about a particular case of the building permission. However, the MLAs from other parts of the State asked 22 questions related to the BMC. MLA from Raun, Rasal Singh asked four questions. One of four questions was related to the officials on deputation and change in designation.

MLA from Jabalpur Achal Sonkar and MLA from Sailana Prabhudayal Gehlot asked two questions each. Besides, the questions of MLAs Harisingh Raghuvanshi, Narayan Tripathi, Dr Sunilam, Sudha Jain, Rajesh Patel, Rajnarayan Singh, Ramnivas Rawat, Saroj Bachchan Nayak, Ummed Singh and Indrajit Kumar also reached the BMC.
