Over 1 lakh evacuated in Maharashtra: CM

Army has been deployed in Nanded, Hingoli, Jalna and Yatavmal and it would be deployed in other areas depending on requirement, he said.

Over one lakh five thousand people have been evacuated across the state, in 685 flood-affected villages of 19 districts whereas rains have claimed 69 lives so far, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said in Mumbai on Monday night.

Army has been deployed in Nanded, Hingoli, Jalna and Yatavmal and it would be deployed in other areas depending on requirement, he said.

Seven choppers and ten army columns are engaged in relief and rescue work, he said.

After over 250 families in Paithan town near Jayakwadi district in Aurangabad district have been evacuated, Deshmukh said.
