Over 23.48 lakh paddy arrives in Haryana

In Haryana, more than 23.48 lakh tonnes (LT) of paddy has so far arrived in various mandis during the current procurement season.

While stating this on monday, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that district Kurukshetra is leading in the paddy arrival where 6,68,972 tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, followed by Karnal with 6,57,073 tonnes.

District Kaithal ranks third in the paddy arrival where 3,61,236 tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, in district Ambala 2,89,723 tonnes of paddy has arrived.

Similarly, in Fatehabad 57,909 tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, in Yamunanagar 1,18,474 tonnes, in Panchkula 47,665 tonnes, in Jind 48,252 tonnes, in Sirsa 41,211 tonnes, in Panipat 19,262 tonnes and in Sonipat 8,229 tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis.

He said that out of the total arrival of paddy, 1,71,022 tonnes of paddy has been purchased by the millers.

Among the government agencies, Food and Supplies Department has purchased 9,96,777 tonnes of paddy, HAFED 5,69,136 tonnes, Agro Industries Corporation 3,28,517 tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 1,88,521 tonnes, CONFED 91,815 tonnes and Food Corporation of India had purchased 2,603 tonnes of paddy, he added.

Meanwhile, the government agencies and private millers procured more than 39,37,140 tonnes of paddy till last evening in Punjab.

Out of total procurement, the government agencies procured 35,99,690 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 3,37,450 tonnes of paddy.

Till October 20, PUNGRAIN had procured 10,42,513 tonnes whereas MARKFED procured 8,51,414 tonnes. PUNSUP procured 8,22,314 tonnes, PSWC procured 3,33,555 tonnes of paddy.

The central government agency FCI had been able to procure 1,92,710 tonnes.

The spokesperson added that district Ferozepur with 5,16,411 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas district Patiala with 4,01,432 tonnes of procurement was at second slot.
