Two days before the elections to the seven municipal corporations in Haryana, the police on Friday seized more than 39,600 bottles of liquor from here.
The huge cache, comprising Indian-made foreign liquor and country-made liquor, was seized from four canters intercepted near a toll plaza on the national highway-1, a spokesperson for the district police said.
The vehicles were on way from Ambala to Panipat, the two districts among the seven that go to polls on Sunday.
The police spokesperson said the drivers failed to provide relevant documents for liquor they were transporting. The drivers have been arrested.
On Tuesday, the police had seized 180 bottles of liquor from the city.
