INDORE CITY Youth Congress on Thursday accused City bus operators of overcharging hundreds of passengers who commute by these buses everyday.

In a statement issued here, the YC said the ticketing procedure was no longer based on the Rs 2 per km system decided originally, but has become totally haphazard. For instance, if two passengers board a City bus from Mhow Naka to Geeta Bhavan, they are charged Rs 10 but on their return journey the same passengers are charged Rs 14, said City Youth Congress vice-president Radhe Borasia.

He further alleged that in many instances the conductors took fare from passengers but refused to issue tickets and pocketed the money.

Although the City bus service showed great promise when it was initially launched, but these days there was hardly any difference between the staff of these buses and that of mini-bus operators.
