The Mumbai crime branch is likely to question a Pakistani umpire who stood in one of the T20 league matches under the spot-fixing scanner, over his suspected links with some of the arrested bookies.

The umpire was close to several persons whose names have cropped up in the racket, said an officier on condition of anonymity. “Since he was also officiating in a match that is under the scanner, we are all the more suspicious,” he said.

He clarified that at this stage there is nothing to link the umpire directly to the scandal. The official was mired in a scandal over alleged links with a Mumbai-based model recently.
