A Pakistani terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district where police defused an Improvised Explosive Device, official sources said.
A Pakistani terrorist, identified as Azhar Iqbal of Lahore, was killed in an encounter with security forces at Moh in Kulgam area of Anantnag district on Friday night, the sources said.
Two identity cards-- one bearing Pakistani address and another a local address-- were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist, the sources said adding the appearance of the terrorist suggested that he was not a Kashmiri.
One AK rifle and some arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter, they added.
The sources said a patrol party of security forces detected a 2.5-kg IED placed in a gas cylinder. A bomb disposal squad was called in, which destroyed the explosive.
