SUNNY, AN 11-year-old boy whose body was found near Idgah Hills last week had been killed by his mother’s paramour, police said on Saturday.
The accused, Salman, 27, had strangulated Sunny and dumped the body near a garbage heap at night. Salman allegedly had sexual relations with the deceased’s mother Kiran alias Babli.
He would often come to the tea stall of Kiran and sit for hours. The child would object this. Salman, who was away from the City for over a month, was angry with Kiran over her getting friendly with another person.
He had earlier offered to marry her but she had refused citing the responsibility of her children. Jealous over Kiran’s relations with the other person, Salman took Sunny away when he was playing outside the house on October 7.
He took the boy to an under-construction structure where he allegedly strangulated him. Finding her son missing, Kiran called Salman’s brother. The accused showed up after some time and pretended to search the child with her.
The next day the body was recovered. During interrogation, the police began to suspect the role of Salman. Local residents had seen Sunny with Salman just before the boy went missing.
The police found that Salman and Kiran had a row over her relations with the other youth. During sustained interrogation, Salman confessed to his crime – killing Sunny. The accused allegedly told the police that he had committed the crime to teach Kiran a lesson.
To frame the man whom Kiran had got friendly with, Salman had put a slip with his cell phone number written on it in the child’s mouth after killing him. He hoped that the police would immediately arrest the person.
However, investigation revealed that Salman had taken away the boy and put the slip to implicate the other person. The Shahjehanabad police arrested Salman. The accused earlier ran a pan kiosk but closed it a few months ago.
